Evaluation of energy consumption, macronutrients, and supplements intakes among university hockey players

This study was a cross - sectional involving hockey players among students at the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) using convenient sampling method. Data were collected by questionnaire consists of five parts including sociodemographic, physical activity, anthropometric measurement, dietary intake records and supplement intakes. The data statistically analysed t-test descriptive statistic to assess daily energy, macronutrients as appropriate for each question on questionnaire. male remained more active than females similarly, some overweight underweight. energy significantly (P<0.001) higher males females. respondents exceeded recommended value in RNI 2005 whereas female it lower. When compared with FIH & RNI, For protein intake, both group respondents, females, did achieve day consumed lower FIH. Lastly, have percentage consumption nutritional supplement, 54.5 %, only 45.5% who supplements. Compared standard references, there significant difference between (kcal), (g) (expressed % total calorie intake) value. Majority consumer obtained information from trusted source. Therefore, education related supplements is necessary prevent any health-related problem overused/abuse
